Still in Lisbon - mostly the Castelo de Sao Jorge

 It's taken longer than usual for us to make the time zone adjustment, so a late start this morning.  After a nice brunch we walked through the Alfama neighborhood up (and up) to the Castelo de Sao Jorge.  Archeological evidence indicates that this area has been occupied since the 7th century BCE.  It was subsequently home to Romans, then Moors, and after the reconquest in 1147 a succession of Portuguese kings until it suffered major damage in the earthquake of 1755.  The castle walls are well restored and open to exploration, and as the castle was built on top of the hill for defensive purposes there are great views.  And what's a castle without lots of peacocks walking around.
